How we operate in construction and infrastructure

The transport partner for infrastructure sites

Motorway, bridge and metro contractors work to strict construction deadlines. A machine or a precast beam delivered late can hold up an entire site, which is why planning the transport matters as much as the cargo itself.

As a freight forwarder, through our network of verified partner carriers we coordinate the movement of machinery and precast structures, in step with the construction schedule and with the access restrictions specific to each site.

How we work

Why choose us for construction and infrastructure

Three things that keep a site on schedule.

  1. 01

    Coordination with the construction schedule

We plan the delivery for the moment the site team needs the equipment, without taking up space too early and without holding up the erection.

  2. 02

    Access to restricted sites

We check temporary road access in advance and coordinate, where needed, additional handling equipment through the partners in our network.

  3. 03

Transport of beams and precast structures

We choose step-deck trailers and multi-axle configurations for the long, heavy pieces typical of infrastructure projects.

What we carry

What we carry for construction and infrastructure

From site machinery through to precast structures for major infrastructure projects.

Excavators and cranes
Transport of heavy construction machinery, on step-deck trailers, with the permits their dimensions require.
Precast beams
Coordination of long pieces for bridges and viaducts, with extendable trailers and escorts where relevant.
Bridge segments
Full coordination for major infrastructure structures, synchronised with the erection windows.
Bulldozers and graders
Transport of earthmoving and road machinery, to sites where access is often temporary.

The specific challenge

The last kilometre: getting onto the site

Many infrastructure sites have temporary access, through diversions or compounds still under construction. We check these routes in advance, as they often do not appear on standard maps, directly with the client's project team, to avoid surprises at the delivery point.

For very heavy machinery we coordinate, where needed, cranes or additional handling equipment at destination, through the partners in our network, so that unloading is safe and quick.

Frequently asked questions

Construction and infrastructure: frequently asked questions

A machine delivered late holds up a whole site, and temporary access does not show on maps. Here is what you need to know.

What permits are required for abnormal load transport of construction machinery?

A machine that exceeds the legal size or weight limits requires a Special Transport Authorisation, which sets the route permitted, the validity period and the travel conditions. As a freight forwarder, through our partners we coordinate the whole process: the route survey, obtaining the permits and, where relevant, the escorts. That way you receive one complete package, without having to deal with the formalities yourself.

How long does the international transport of a construction machine take?

The duration depends on the distance, on how far the load exceeds the standard envelope and on the time needed for the permits, which should be requested at least two weeks in advance. For abnormal load transports between European countries the usual figure is a few days of actual driving, plus the route planning. On request we include an estimated schedule in the project quote.

What type of trailer do you use to move an excavator or a crane?

We choose the trailer according to the dimensions and the weight of the machine, from lowbed platforms through to multi-axle trailers for very heavy loads. For long pieces we use extendable trailers, which provide the length required without raising the centre of gravity. We settle the exact configuration once you send us the equipment specifications.

How do you transport long precast beams and elements for bridges and viaducts?

For precast beams and bridge segments we use step-deck trailers and extendable configurations, matched to the length and the weight of each piece. Through the partners in our network we coordinate the route survey, the size permits and the escorts where necessary. We synchronise the delivery with the erection window, so the structure arrives on site at exactly the right moment.

Can you carry drilling rigs and other heavy site equipment?

Yes, we coordinate the transport of heavy equipment such as drilling rigs, piling rigs, bulldozers or graders, on trailers sized for the load in question. For each machine we establish the transport configuration and the permits its dimensions and weight require. At destination we can organise, through partners, the means needed for safe unloading.

Do you deliver machinery straight to site, even where there is no unloading infrastructure?

Yes, we handle the delivery all the way to site, including on temporary access roads which we check in advance directly with your project team. If the site does not have the means needed for unloading, through our partner network we coordinate cranes or additional handling equipment at the final point. That way the equipment reaches the ground safely, without you depending on the infrastructure already there.
